After taking our little girl to her birth mother, we never really thought we would hear from them again. Most people are not very thankful or grateful to you as the foster parent, when DFACS takes their kid away. I felt maybe this wasn't what God wanted us to do. (be foster parents) And REALLY what difference are we making. A pity party really is what I was doing. I must admit I'm still not sure.
But... her mother called tonight and asked if we would like to see her again! and told us she was doing well, and things were going well for her. She said we were welcome to call and check on her any time. Which is a great relief. I didn't call her because I didn't want to intrude on her time with her daughter and to give them time to get use to each other.
It's nice to know (or at least think) she didn't think we were terrible people who didn't take good care of her child and wants us to be a part of her life.
Maybe we can be an influence on her and her mother after all.

This is a wonderful opportunity and sounds like a real answer to pray...I'm happy for you.

Perhaps you will be a great influence on the mom - if she called you, she is reaching out to you. Maybe you could be her mentor and keep her daughter out of the system again.

From one foster mom to another - I KNOW this is a tough thing to deal with.
